The Bass & I (double bass and vocals) features Steve Arié, one of Australia's finest jazz musicians. His musical versatility has earned him places with such Australian greats as D.I.G., Dale Barlow, Bernie McGann, Ten Part Invention, George Washingmachine, Wanderlust, Pardon Me Boys, Frank Bennett, Martin Plaza and Gyan.
The combination of Steve's virtuosic double bass playing and cool vocal stylings create an intimate, sophisticated sound. Whether it be a large concert festival, a corporate function, hotel lobby or wedding ceremony, The Bass & I is equally at home and adaptable to all occasions.
Steve has had enormous experience and has toured both nationally and internationally with highlights including two performances at the prestigious Chicago Jazz Festival, The Hothouse Jazz Club Chicago, The Kennedy Centre for Performing Arts (USA), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland), Ruhrfestspiele (Germany), and jazz and music festivals throughout Australia.
The Bass & I presents a large repertoire from artists as diverse as Frank Sinatra, Chet Baker, The Beatles, Louis Armstrong, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Michael Buble, The Temptations and Harry Connick Jnr, to name a few.
